Braathen currently holds the position of human resources manager at the Norwegian National Security Authority (NSM). She has a law degree from the University of Oslo and has previously worked for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Norwegian Tax Administration and various tax offices. She has also been a union representative and leader of the Tax Administration’s legal association.
“We are delighted to welcome Helene and to have her on the leadership team. She has a very interesting background, both as a leader and a union representative. I have high expectations that she will contribute in a good way with her skills and experience to the further development of the university”, says University Director Seunn Smith-Tønnessen.
Braathen is Danish but grew up in Kristiansand. She is now moving home to Kristiansand after 30 years in the capital to take up the leadership position at UiA.
Senior Adviser Ingunn Ugland has been the acting director of human resources in the recent months and will continue in that capacity until Braathen arrives. Ugland did not apply for the position. There were a total of 29 applicants.
Camilla Jarlsby, who previously held the position, was recruited to the position of director of culture and citizen dialogue in Kristiansand municipality last year.
