Bird cam

The Museum has set out several bird boxes in the local community. Some of the boxes have cameras. A common redstart has moved into one of them!

The redstart is a small migratory bird. It is smaler than the great tit. The male has a black throat and white face. The chest and tail is read. The female is mostly brown.

The common redstart usually lays 6-7 blue eggs. In our box, the redstart has laid 8 eggs! The eggs must be incubated for two weeks before they hatch. After 14-15 days the chicks are ready to leave the nest!
