The Student Organization in Agder (STA) is the official representative body for students at the University of Agder. The overarching goals of the organization is to work for the professional, social, economic and welfare interests of the students at UiA. STA organizes around 13,000 students and is the umbrella organization for a variety of student activities. STA is the voice of our students on campus, in the local arena and nationally.
Political committees in STA
STA has three political committees that function as expert bodies in three different areas: welfare policies, academic policies and international policies. All three committees shall contribute in the developing of STA's recommendations and assist the STA-board in preparing statements from the Student Organization.
These committees are elected at the meeting of the Student Parliament in September, and their functional period is until September the following year.

STA's election committee
The UNIKUM Board: the student newspaper board.
The University Board: the highest governing body of the University of Agder.
Appeals committee:the committee considers matters of complaints in academic administrative issues.
The Election Board: a body that has the responsibility for conducting all elections at the University.
Award Committee: it evaluates and nominates which academic environment at the University of Agder that deserves the Education Award.
The Learning Environment Committee: a body that contributes to making the student environment better.
The Academic Affairs Committee: an advisory body to the University Board in cases regarding studies and syllabuses and shall also follow up the quality system.
The Aptitude Committee: it deals with matters related to the aptitude for the teacher professions and healthcare personnel.
The Equality and Inclusion Committee: this body promotes equality at UiA regardless of gender, disability, religion, belief, age and sexual orientation.
Engage in STA
By engaging in STA, you can be part of bringing about local, regional and national changes that affect the life of thousands of students. You may choose to get involved in the direct running of STA or simply want to have your say by voting in elections or attending the STA meetings. Engaging in STA activities has a direct impact on your education.

Student Activities
Whatever you get involved with outside your studies at UiA – sports, societies or just socialising – STA will undoubtedly shape your experience. STA oversees our student-run societies and sports clubs, and provides a packed programme of events and entertainment.
The student organization in Agder is an umbrella organization for nearly 60 student activities at the University of Agder, on both campus Grimstad and Kristiansand. There is a wide spectre of activities from singing in choirs to team sports and political student organisations. If you feel UiA is missing a particular student activity or a club, we encourage you to take action and start your own student activity.

Students at UiA can apply for student social funds from the Welfare Council in Agder to start up new activities.
