Read & Publish agreements with academic publishers

The Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education Research (SIKT) has signed on behalf of University of Agder Open Access publishing agreements with some academic publishers.

Open publishing means that scientific publications will be immediately and permanently accessible on the Internet, free of charge. Author(s) retain copyright but simultaneously everyone that has access to the Internet can use the publication in the extent license permits.

Open Access publication is sustained with the help of Creative Commons licenses. These licenses provide guidelines about how to use a full text and ensure that author(s) get recognition for his/her publication.

Requirements to the author:

The corresponding author must be affiliated with University of Agder
Register University of Agder as your affiliation during submission and/or when signing a publication agreement (can be referred to as “License Agreement", "Publishing Agreement", "publishing contract"

Check if the journal you want to publish in is registered as an approved publication channel in the Norwegian register for scientific journals, series and publishers. If it is not, submit the journal as a new publication channel for approval. Local superusers of the CRISTIN system will help you with submitting a journal for approval.

Cambridge University Press

Validity period	01.01.2023 – 31.12.2024
Type of contract	Read and publish (read access and Article Processing Charges combined in one deal).
Journals covered	Unlimited open access publishing in both subscription-based and pure open access journals. Journals which have "No OA" in the column "Open Access" do not covered by the agreement.
Eligible article types	Original research articles, review articles, rapid communications, brief reports, case reports that are accepted for publication during the agreement period.
License	Creative Commons - CC BY
Copyright	Authors retain copyright
Workflow	Cambridge University Press will notify the author of the possibility to publish Open Access at no cost during the publication process. Author's affiliation to UiA will be confirmed by the university library. See publishing workflow.

Cogitatio Press

Validity period	01.01.2020 – 31.12.2022
Type of contract	Pay-as-you-publish (UiA´s open access fund covers all qualified articles)
Journals covered	Unlimited open access publishing in: Madia and Communication Politics and Governance Social Inclusion Urban Planning
Eligible article types	Original research articles and review articles that are accepted for publication during the agreement period.
License	Creative Commons - CC BY
Copyright	Authors retain copyright

Elsevier

Validity period	01.01.2022 – 31.12.2024
Type of contract	Read and publish (read access and Article Processing Charges combined in one deal)
Journals covered	Subscription-based journals and Cell Press journals
Exception	Open access publishing in pure open access journals is not covered by the agreement. Please apply to UiA´s open access fund for support.
Eligible article types	Original research articles og Review articles which are submitted during the agreement period
License	Creative Commons - CC BY or CC BY-NC-ND
Copyright	Authors retain copyright
Workflow	Elsevier will notify the author of the possibility to publish Open Access at no cost during the publication process. Author's affiliation to UiA will be confirmed by the university library. See the publishing workflow.

Frontiers

Type of contract	Pay-as-you-publish (UiA´s open access fund covers all qualified articles)
Journals covered	Unlimited open access publishing in pure open access journals.
Eligible article types	Article type A and B that are accepted for publication during the agreement period.
License	Creative Commons - CC BY
Copyright	Authors retain copyright
Workflow	Register University of Agder as an affiliated institution and payer (in the field Frontiers Institutional Members) when submitting the manuscript. Apply for funding by filling in an application form. Your institutional affiliation will be confirmed by the university library. Invoices will be sendt directly to the university library. The author is not involved in the invoicing process.

Journals covered	Unlimited Open Access publishing in subscription-based journals. The Open Access fund covers publishing in pure Open Access journals.

Journals that allow open access publishing without payment of an article processing charge (APC)
Publishing in pure Open Access journals are not included in the agreement and can be covered by the UiA´s Open Access fund.

Article types: Original, review, brief communication, continuing education articles accepted within the contract period.

Licenses: CC BY and CC BY-NC.

Workflow: Springer will notify the author of the possibility to publish Open Access at no cost during the publication process. Author's affiliation to University of Agder will be confirmed by the university library. See publishing workflow.
