The planning process leading to the next strategy plan for the University of Agder, which will run until 2024, has begun. It looks towards 2030 and perhaps even further.

What will UiA’s identity and profile be? How will we fulfil our social mission in the future? How do we want UiA to be?
These are just some of the questions to consider as UiA prepares a strategy for 2021 – 2024. A discussion paper invites all parts of the UiA organisation to put strategy on the agenda and provide input on the proposal for a new strategy.
“This phase of the process focuses on input from staff and students at UiA. We hope there will be good discussions in every part of UiA’s operations and that we will receive much input”, says Rector Sunniva Whittaker and University Director Seunn Smith-Tønnessen.
The rectorate is currently visiting every university department, and an important purpose of these visits is to gather input for the new strategy.
“The strategy process should be an open process and should offer all staff and students at UiA the opportunity to influence the strategy for the coming period”, says Rector Sunniva Whittaker.
UiA’s strategy 2016 – 2020 was the result of an intensive but comprehensive process. This time, the strategy process will be less extensive. The strategy document for the next period will build on the existing strategy.
“A revision of UiA’s strategy 2016 – 2020 is therefore planned. At the same time, the rectorate wants to make sure that some elements are emphasised more strongly in the new strategy. A new strategy must focus more on the major societal challenges, such as meeting the UN’s sustainability goals”, says Rector Sunniva Whittaker.
The university management will also secure input from outside the formal university organisation.
The deadline for input to the new strategy proposal is 1 February 2020.
A draft strategy will be sent for consultation internally and externally on 1 March 2020. The strategy 2021 – 2024 will be finally adopted at the University Board meeting in June 2020.
A separate webpage has been created on UiA’s website for the strategy process. Here, individuals and external actors can provide input for the strategy.
