Sissel H. Helland is Associate Professor at the Department of Nutrition and Public Health. Since 2009 she has been the Subject Coordinator for specialization in food and meal in kindergarten teacher education.

Since 2020, she is also the Subject Coordinator for the EVU course: Food and Meal in Kindergarten for Kindergarten Teachers. She holds a doctorate in health science with focus on food and meal in kindergarten from UiA, and a master's degree in pedagogy also from UiA. Helland is originally a kindergarten teacher from Agder University College and has further education in counseling pedagogy and coaching. Helland also has a professional certificate as a chef. She has worked with teaching in practical cooking and theoretical topics, guidance and dissemination since 2009 and in recent years also with research. Her scientific work centers around food and meal in kindergarten and she has worked on 1)  food neophobia, 2) feeding practices  and 3) the Sapere- method.
