My major research interests are related to interactions and element transfer along the water continuum, i.e. in the transition between terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystems. My scientific background is within limnology (freshwater science), with specialization on catchment biogeochemistry and modelling. A primary interest is the nitrogen cycle and how it is affected in various ways by climate variability and human impacts. My favourite methodological approach is the combination of long-term data analysis, large-scale experiments and mathematical modelling. Through the years, I have had the pleasure to conduct science within several large and interdisciplinary research projects, both nationally and internationally. I'm currently head of NIVA's Region South office in Grimstad and hold a 10% position as associate professor at the University of Agder.
