Jan Ole Rypestøl`s educational background includes several academic institutions in Norway, including Norwegian School of Economics, University of Bergen and University of Agder. Amongst others, he possesses a Candidatus Magisterii degree from NHH and UIB, KLH, a master degree in Innovation and knowledge development from the University of Agder, and a Philosopiae doctor (PhD) degree in regional development from the same instituiton.
Rypestøl's publishes his research in journals like Entrepreneurship and regional development (Routledge), Industry and Innovation (Routledge) and Journal of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Springer).
In addition to his academic position here at UIA, Rypestøl also holds a position as a senior esearcher for NORCE Norwegian Research Centre. In NORCE he is the project leader of the team which provides the National bank of Norway its analysis concerning regional industrial development in Southern Norway.
His most reason external research assignments were Regional Report 2/2019 and 4/2019 for Norges Bank, and a research assignment evaluating the entrepreneurial climate within the county of Arendal.
Jan Ole Rypestøl`s research interest covers entrepreneurship, innovation and regional industrial development.
Rypestøl is an active researcher and he is in the process of publishing several book chapters and academic papers addressing policy issues and sustainability.
