My visual arts practice has been at the core of my work since leaving the State Academy of Fine Arts in 1990. My work started as a sculptural investigation in public space but has become increasingly orientated towards the investigation of the artist´s role within society. In recent years public art and definitions of publics and the changing role of the artist has resulted in an increasingly participatory research based practice with other artists, curators and participants – and the idea of “artist signature” as well as "art" objects as fetishist item is being explored through collaborative processes.

Present collaborative exploratory activities include Tenthaus Oslo with Ebba Moi and Stefan Schröder, and performative sculpture making with Germain Ngoma.

Research Interests

My areas of expertise are visual arts, language and cultural learning strategies for adult learners. However, my area of research is "aethetic decisiom making moments" in post-colonial Norway.  I draw on New Materialism and Critical Race and Whiteness theories to understand the way in which stereotyping and structural racialised hierarchies are still valid and produced despite good intentions behind classroom inclusivity programmes.

This critical understanding focuses on informal teaching in the classroom through art history and media rhetoric to suggest the ways in which integration and inclusion discourses are subverted to support a dominating visual art strategy that perpetuates a visual rhetoric that supports racialised hierarchies.
