I hold a PhD in political science from UiO (thesis: “Co-decision – a panacea for EU democracy?”), a Cand. Polit. degree in comparative politics from UiB, and an MSc in Political Theory from London School of Economics and Political Science. Before coming to UiA as a postdoctoral fellow, I worked at and is still affiliated with ARENA – Centre for European Studies, UiO. Here I was involved in two EU-funded projects: CIDEL (Citizenship and Democratic Legitimacy in the European Union) and RECON (Reconstituting Democracy in Europe). I have also worked as a researcher at the Centre for the Study of Professions at Oslo University College and for Innovation Norway as an adviser in European Affairs with the Norwegian participation in the EU’s Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP).
My main research interests are related to questions about the preconditions for democracy beyond the nation-state, EU integration and political system, the EU’s institutions and decision-making processes – including co-decision and foreign and security policy, deliberative democracy, accountability, the role and democratic implications of expertise in public policy-making, Norway’s relationship with the EU.
