Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM) is a private university situated in the affluent district of Monterrey, in the north-eastern part of Mexico. The university has approximately 12,000 students and has a strong focus on internationalization. There are many exciting courses for students from different programs, but the selection of courses offered in English my vary.
Monterrey is the country’s third largest city with approximately 2 million inhabitants. The are good options for transportation within the city by both bus, subway and affordable taxi service.
Tuition
There is no tuition fees.
Credits and Modules
Students can take up to 6 courses per semester, which will generate 36 UDEM credits. This is equivalent to over 30 ECTS at UiA. There are a limited number of courses offered in English, with the list being published prior to semester start. It is also possible to take a Spanish language course. If you are interested in taking one or more course in Spanish, you can participate in an intensive language course during the summer.
UDEM assists students with finding housing. Students can choose to live in student accommodation on campus or share an apartment off campus. It is also possible to live with a host family. The price for accommodation will vary based on the type of housing selected. The lower estimate is $250 a month.
Students applying for exchange to UDEM must have a minimum C grade average.
Additional Information
Students staying less than 180 days do not need a study visa and can travel as a tourist and should select that they are a 'visitor visa without permission of remuneration'. Students staying in Mexico for 180 days or more must apply for a student visa through the Mexican Embassy.
It is possible to volunteer in various charitable organizations while studying at UDEM. This does not earn study points but can be a great way to experience the culture and language.
