Dinner - Tall Ship - Sørlandet
Sørlandet is a Norwegian heritage tall ship and one of very few full-rigged ships in the world. She is the senior of the existing Norwegian built square riggers, and for more than 50 years she held a central position in the education and training of young people.
Gala Dinner - Christianholm Fortress
The fortress was finished in 1672 and formed a part of King Christian IV's plan for defense of Kristiansand when the city was founded in 1641. The architect of the fortress was quartermaster general Willem Coucheron. It was built on an islet, about 100 yards from shore. Today the fortress is connected to the mainland.
Financial inclusion remains high on public policy agendas, and banks are increasingly considering low-income families and their income generating activities as interesting market opportunities. In some countries the microfinance markets are getting integrated into regular bank markets and public regulation, while at the same time the social aspects of microfinance continues to be debated. The Covid19 crisis is putting the entire banking industry under tremendous pressure. Even more so for the microfinance industry serving clients with a need for daily income. Another area of interest is the liability structure where international impact investors account for a sizable share of microfinance funding. How has this been affected by the Covid19 crisis and the current globalization setback.
Session Chair:
Roy Mersland
University of Agder
Contact: roy.mersland@uia.no
Mersland has a wide international research network and is currently involved in several research projects. He is a member of the research group of the European Microfinance Platform and of the Centre for European Research in Microfinance (CERMi) in Belgium. He is also Director of the Center for Research on Social Enterprises and Microfinance (CERSEM) at the University of Agder.
Submission: submit the paper in our platform and select the last topic "Special Sessions: Microfinance"
Crowdfunding is an important alternative channel for entrepreneurial and project funding, which has seen an exponential growth in recent years. Parallel to growth in popular use, research into various aspects of Crowdfunding practice has also been growing rapidly. Nevertheless, it remains a novel and limited research stream with many gaps and opportunities for discovery and development. The current track seeks to present new research on all aspects of Crowdfunding as relating to both micro level perspectives (i.e. funders, fundraisers, campaigns, and platforms), as well as macro-level economic and social perspectives.
Papers may address, but are not limited to, the following themes:
1. Factors impacting investor behavior in investment crowdfunding (equity, lending, etc.) or backer behavior in non-investment crowdfunding (reward, donation, etc.).
2. Risk mitigation in crowdfunding practice within and across models.
3. The role of relationships and trust in crowdfunding practice and performance.
4. Drivers of crowdfunding campaign performance and success.
5. Factors impacting defaults in crowdlending.
6. Short- and long-term implications of crowdfunding experience on organizations’ performance, corporate governance, and finances.
7. Short- and long-term implications of crowdfunding on borrower finances and welfare.
8. Survival, growth and performance of crowdfunded ventures.
9. Efficiency and effectiveness of fundraising in crowdfunding models vs. traditional channels.
All of the above may also be conducted as comparative studies across different market contexts (countries, cultures, sectors, etc.), organization types (for-profit vs. non-profit, young vs. mature ventures, etc.), capital need levels, crowdfunding models, and crowdfunding vs. traditional fundraising models.
Submission: submit the paper in our platform and select the topic "Special Sessions: CROWDFUNDING"
SESSION CHAIR
Rotem Shneor
School of Business and Law
University of Agder, Norway
Contact: rotem.shneor@uia.no
The conference will take place at the University of Agder's campus in Kristiansand. The campus is easy to reach from the city center of Kristiansand.
UiA has 11 000 students and 1100 faculty and staff members. It is one of the youngest universities in Norway, but its history dates back to 1839 when the first teacher training institution in the region was established. It is a public university with state-of-the-art buildings on both campuses (in Kristiansand and in Grimstad). Research is the foundation of all teaching activities at UiA and covers a wide variety of disciplines.
The School of Business and Law is one of UiA's six faculties. The school was AACSB accredited in 2019.
Kristiansand is known as the 'capital of southern Norway'. The city has beautiful nature close by, being the rough seaside and isles to the south and the wide forest surrounding the rest of the city. Kristiansand has also a variety of museums, galleries, and Norway's largest zoo and amusement park.
More information about activities and attractions in and around Kristiansand can be found on the Visit Norway website.
Kristiansand airport is called Kjevik (KRS). There are direct flights to Kjevik from Copenhagen, Amsterdam and London. There are also frequent domestic flights to Kjevik from Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim.
Kristiansand lies right beside the sea and is therefore also accessible by boat. Ferries go between Kristiansand and Hirtshals (Denmark) and various cruiseships call on Kristiansand harbour every year. For more info about the harbour, ferries, and cruises see: Kristiansand harbour
The Norwegian railway company operates all lines in Norway. Trains run directly between Kristiansand and Oslo (about 4.5 hours), and between Kristiansand and Stavanger (about 3 hours). Tickets can be bought online and more information can be found on the website of Go-Ahead.
Outside Kristiansand: There are various buscompanies catering for travellers who travel longer distances departing from or arriving in Kristiansand. Information can be found on the following websites:
http://lavprisekspressen.no/ (in Norwegian)
In Kristiansand: Timetables and information on travelling by buss within the area of Kristiansand can be found at the website of Agder Kollektivtrafikk AS. It takes approximately 10-15 minutes by buss from the city centre to the university campus.
