Leire Aldaz

Labour niches and occupational segregation by origin and gender in the EU
Leire Aldaz, Begoña Eguía & Ane Aizpurua (University of the Basque Country)

Leire Aldaz holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration and a PhD in Economics. She is Associate Professor of the Department of Public Policy and Economic History in the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of the Basque Country.

Her doctoral thesis analyses, from a gender perspective, the occupational segregation and immigration in the Spanish labour market. Her teaching and research activity focuses on the analysis of technological innovation, the demographic dynamics of native and migrant population and inequality in the labour market. The latter includes topics such as labour niches, occupational segregation and the impact of the influx of immigrant workers on the labour conditions of the native labour force.

Her participation in international and national research projects and conferences has led her to publish in international scientific journals.

Eugene Guribye

When mobility becomes migration: The case of labour migrants in Norway

Eugene Guribye is Leader of the Center for Practice-Oriented Research and Co-Creation at NORCE and has been working on migration issues for the past twenty years. He was appointed as a participant in the Work Immigration Committee (?), which submitted its report in 2022, and has served on the board of the Norwegian and Nordic network for migration research.

Kristian Rose Tronstad 

The age og migration in Agder:
Where do they come from, where do they go? On international migration and labour market integration of immigrants.

Kristian Rose Tronstad is Research Director at Department of International Studies and Migration at the Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research, OsloMet.

Tronstad has more than 20 years' experience with analyzes of immigration and immigrants' integration. In 2018, Tronstad was on loan to the OECD, where he carried out analyzes of refugee women's integration in various OECD countries. In recent years, he has mainly worked with comparative analyzes of labor market integration and the authorities' response to high levels of migration.

Roy Peijen

How can workplaces and supervisors prepare for increased learning and employability? 

Dr. Roy Peijen is Medior (quantitative) Researcher at TNO, the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research. He holds a PhD in (Labour Market) Sociology in which he observed employment programmes’ impacts for vulnerable groups of workers, e.g. youth, ethnic minorities, and workers with disabilities. His research at TNO focuses on skills-based hiring, proactive behaviour and hybrid working.

Paul Preenen

How can workplaces and supervisors prepare for increased learning and employability?

Dr. Paul Preenen is Senior Researcher at TNO, the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research, and Professor (Lector) at the Saxion University of Applied Sciences. He holds a PhD in Organisational Psychology. His research focuses on social innovation and consequences of technology for labour, organisations, innovation adoption and employees as well as interorganisational collaboration.

Paul gained (inter)national policy and business advising experience working for the Netherlands Trade Office in Taiwan and Dutch Ministries. He’s Editor for the European Journal of Workplace Innovation and has been advisory member for the Dutch social Economic Board.  

The second workshop, "the future of work in the age of globalization" was held on 22 September, 2022 at the University of Agder, Norway.

Themes:

The COVID-19 crisis has, amongst other aspects, disrupted global value chains, intensifying ongoing social and political pressures for embracing digitalisation and de-globalising the economy. In this second workshop, we take stock of global developments, set in motion prior to the crisis, while delving deep into their local effects in terms of economic activity and regional labour markets using Agder as a case. Following a keynote by Prof. Bart Los, a senior researcher involved with the GI-NI project, a panel of speakers representing different regional stakeholders will share their knowledge and experiences addressing some of the following questions:

• What is happening to global value chains and what does the future look like?
• How is regional industry adapting to the new circumstances and what are the key challenges?
• To what extent are regional labour markets resilient enough to accommodate to the emerging demands?
• Does the Nordic tripartite governance model provide key lessons to other countries and regions?
