Welcome to the POEM 2018 Homepage for the Conference on 29th – 30th of May 2018 in Kristiansand, Norway. As a participant at the conference, you may contribute with a paper (more information under the heading Papers). We are proud to announce the following three keynote speakers:
POEM is a conference for researches working in early childhood mathematics education. We are still faced with the key question: In which way – and how much – should children be ‘educated’ in mathematics before entering primary school? In a working atmosphere, focussing on interaction and exchange, we want to address this question together with the participants, in order to start and maintain a research network in early mathematics learning.
After the conference was held in Frankfurt a.M. in 2012, Malmö in 2014, and Karlsruhe in 2016, we now want to invite you to join the 4th POEM conference from May 29th to 30th in Kristiansand, Norway.
PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUESTED TO MAKE THEIR OWN HOTEL RESERVATION. WE HAVE MADE SOME PRE-RESERVATIONS AT THE FOLLOWING HOTELS. PLEASE REFER TO BOOKING CODE AS DESCRIBED UNDER EACH HOTEL.
Deadline for registration for the conference is January 31th 2018. If you would like to contribute to the conference (8-10 pages, 25 minutes presentation + 15 minutes discussion) please send your paper via email (email@example.com) until April 30th 2018. Please use the template available on this conference webpage under the headline “Template” (To be announced later).
The quickest way of getting to the university campus in Kristiansand from abroad is to go by plane to Kristiansand Airport, Kjevik. The airport has regular flight connections to Oslo, Copenhagen, Gdansk and Amsterdam, all within 1.5 hour of flight from Kristiansand.
The easiest way of getting from the airport to the city centre/Campus in Kristiansand is by taxi. The ride takes approximately 20 mins and costs about EUR 40. There is no specially scheduled airport bus service at Kjevik, but there are local bus connections which can be used (best for daytime flights).
Long-distance bus. App. 4,5 hours Oslo-Grimstad, 5 hours Oslo-Kristiansand.
Three bus companies offer transport.
The program for the conference is currently under construction, and thus it will be announced later. However, the time frame will be from 9 am to 4 pm each of the two days (09:00-16:00). We expect participants to arrive Kristiansand on Monday the 28th of May, and departure on Wednesday the 30th of May. The program on Wednesday will be adapted to this plan.
