In strong competition with other research centres, CIEM, along with the WISENET Centre have been granted status as priority research centres (PRIFORSK) at the University of Agder.
The Centre for Integrated Emergency Management (CIEM) is an interdisciplinary research centre at the University of Agder. The centre conducts research on technology-based innovation for societal resilience.
CIEM received excellent assessments in both internal and external evaluations and scored high on all assessment criteria. The centre is judged to have high probability of meeting the University Board’s expectations of priority research centres.
- The applications have maintained a very high standard, and several were qualified based on the criteria. The University Board’s job was to prioritise two of them based on both external and internal evaluations, says rector and chair Sunniva Whittaker.
- The 5-year PRIFORSK grant gives substantial funding for recruiting new talented PhDs, postdocs and adjunct professors for further strengthening our research. The evaluation of our proposal by two external experts highlighted CIEM's strong foundation of excellent research established through the centre's decade of existence. I am very proud to serve as Director of CIEM and its strong group of researchers, and I look forward to continuing our work, says professor Bjørn Erik Munkvold.
