2019-student at The European Integration Summer School

How did you experience the summer school program?

– Overall, the Summer School was great. Being around other young students with a profound interest in the EU in beautiful Kristiansand made all the difference. While the courses were intense, there remained time to enjoy the city and its surroundings. The courses themselves were of high quality and the professors provided us with interesting lectures, group work, and discussions. All together, doing the Summer School was a good decision and I enjoyed spending my summer in Kristiansand.

What was the most important insight you got?

– I will remember the two days we spent being taught by Frank Schimmelfennig. As the topic of the second course, his introduction to differentiated integration was comprehensive and eye-opening. Getting insights from the most recent research on the topic and then discussing these and their relevance for understanding the current developments in the EU was the highlight of the Summer School.

What are your future plans?

– Right now I am doing my Master's in Political Science at the University of Konstanz. After finishing my studies I hope to get an internship at one of the European institutions and use that as the start of my career.
