We had the best lecturers presenting the most topical policy and development of the EU. Students from all over the world came to UiA to take these courses and the discussions we had with our lecturers gave me new exciting insight.
European Integration Summer School
Name: Isabelle-Louise Aabel
Study: European Integration Summer School
Title: EU Advisor
Employer: GCE NODE
I work as an EU advisor in GCE NODE with project development towards Horizon 2020 and other European funding opportunities. To be successful in project development I need to know the industry GCE NODE represents, and connect the strategic goals and challenges up to EUs initiatives.
As a self-proclaimed EU-nerd I had no choice. During my bachelor and masters I had chosen all the possible courses with an international focus, and European Summer School was the final piece in my puzzle.
We had the best lecturers presenting the most topical policy and development of the EU. Students from all over the world came to UiA to take these courses and the discussions we had with our lecturers gave me new exciting insight. I knew that if I chose a career with an international focus I would always be able to learn something new, and working hands on with EU related topics now, has shown me that no day is the same. It is a perfect combination between politics, bureaucracy and project innovation.
That no matter if you wish for an international career or not, the international perspective is important. To be able to put yourself and your line of work into the bigger picture always has a great value. To see that we are all co-dependent, and that we can learn from one another. The European Summer School provides that, and an international group of students, the best lecturers and the most intense and interesting weeks of your education. Additionally it is also a very useful competence to have following the current public debate concerning EU-matters and being able to understand the driving forces behind the European developments of our time. Good luck.
