Roger Säljö, born 1948, Professor, University of Gothenburg
Professor Roger Säljö is a leading European researcher in the field of educational science. In Scandinavia, students and teachers recognise his name from textbooks on pedagogy and the sociocultural perspective on learning and development. Researchers have enjoyed his impressive list of publications for years, and he is on the editorial boards of several scientific journals.
Roger Säljö was centrally involved in the development of the doctoral programme in mathematics didactics at UiA. As visiting professor and professor II at the Department of Mathematical Sciences he has supervised doctoral students in mathematics didactics. He has also taught several courses related to the doctoral specialization in mathematics didactics and has been an opponent at seminars for PhD candidates.
He is also professor II at the Department of Education where he has been central in the development and implementation of the PhD programme and has taught and supervised doctoral students at the Faculty of Humanities and Education.
