In mid-December 2020, a new collaboration agreement was signed between Kilden Performing Arts Centre and the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Agder (UiA). The partners have high expectations for this cooperation. “The Faculty of Fine Arts at UiA with its competent environment is a great partner for us”, says Harald Furre, director of Kilden.

The agreement has existed since 2013 but has become increasingly tangible over the years. The collaboration has led to the creation of new study programs and offers an internship period at Kilden for UiA students. Starting with the academic year 2021/22, orchestral practice will be established with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra (KSO) for students enrolled in the study program Orchestral Academy as a master's in-depth field.

Marit Wergeland, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, hopes the revised agreement will also lead to an increased collaboration on research and ongoing education. These are areas with great potential, where UiA and Kilden may have overlapping needs.

Kilden has just adopted a new artistic strategy by creating unique productions across art forms. “We see this as very exciting and inspiring in terms of our own interdisciplinary initiatives”, says Wergeland.

The cooperation agreement will be followed up by the end of each half year and applies until December 31, 2024.
