University of Agder has invested heavily in developing study programmes in mechatronics. We are currently the only university in Norway offering a complete education in mechatronics, from bachelor's programme to PhD programme. This is a rapidly growing academic field at the University of Agder, with wide-ranging research in close collaboration process industry and oil and gas related industries.
The Mechatronics group at UiA has been an active contributor the the Norwegian Centre for Offshore Wind Energy since 2008. The group has established the unique motion-lab infrastructure. Since 2014 the group is leading several work-packages in the Centre for Research-Based Innovation: SFI Offshore Mechatronics. During 2012-2015 the group has also been leading work packages in the EU FP7 project Hephestos.
