Will contribute to strategic choices that cultivate the benefits of diversity

Senior Adviser Clare Hildebrandt, Faculty of Fine Arts:

- UiA is made up of competent people, we are good at what we do! I am passionate about making use of the diversity we have among us. Our strategies must facilitate taking advantage of the span and multiplicity, taking into account differences in perspectives, knowledge, and skills.

CANDIDATE: Clare Hildebrand is a candidate from the technical and administrative staff constituency in the Board election this spring.

.

Why do you stand for election?

- I stand because I believe that active participation, and representation of various perspectives, is the key to success in a larger organisation. I want to contribute to development at the University of Agder through a dedication to appropriate strategic choices that can be made by the university board.

- I am running as a representative for technical-administrative staff, but I know UiA well as an institution and have a relatively long and varied experience at UiA. I am now a Senior Advisor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, but I started my time at UiA as a bachelor's student in 2013. I sat on the STA board in 2016/17 and had a period as a research associate from 2019 to 2022. During my time at the university, I have had several periods as a representative in various councils and committees, e.g. a representative on the faculty board at the Business School, a representative on the Learning Environment Committee, a representative on the Study Committee, and a representative on the University's Research and Innovation Committee. As a representative on the University Board, I will try to use this experience to see the big picture from different perspectives when considering my vote on decisions.

- UiA is an organization filled with a diverse collection of competent people and I believe it is important that UiA is attractive as a workplace for both scientific and administrative staff. In order to meet our societal mission in education, research and communication, I believe it is crucial that UiA cultivates diversity and works purposefully and strategically toward common goals. UiA is a good workplace with an inclusive working environment and good development opportunities, but decisions made by the university board can have a great impact on whether we succeed in taking a stronger position in the sector of Higher Education. As members of the highest governing body at UiA, I believe that representatives of the University Board must promote positivity, optimism, trust, and competence in our institution!
