CANDIDATE: Silje Hammerstad Grimsli is a candidate from the technical and administrative staff constituency in the Board election this spring.

Why are you running in this election?

- I am starting to gain quite a lot of experience from UiA, both as a student and an employee, and I am really passionate about the university and the important social mission we have! It is absolutely essential that we work together in good ways to solve our common mission in the best possible way. We have an incredible number of talented people at the university, and being able to take advantage of each other's strengths is important to be able to succeed in developing the university further. In addition, it is important that tighter framework conditions, which we have to live with in the future, do not come at the expense of labor and the working environment, but that we together find smart solutions for how we can work in the future. I am running for election because I want to contribute more to the development of the university

What are the three most important issues you want to work on in the next four years?

• UiA as an attractive workplace and beacon of equality

- Under this point, there are several aspects. Firstly, it's about working hard to lead as a good example when it comes to equality in all areas! Secondly, we must work together to create an inclusive working environment and good framework conditions so that we attract new talented employees and ensure that they stay. It is also about us being known for the cooperation and relationship between scientific and technical-administrative staff to be good! In addition, I think it is about the employees having opportunities for career and competence opportunities.

• Students who learn and thrive

- There is no doubt that one of the most important things we do is to train a competent workforce. The fact that we make arrangements for the educations to be as good as they can possibly be must be one of the most important things to work towards.

• Continue and expand co-creation with the region

- Although national and international cooperation is important, we have a main responsibility to contribute to developing our region, of course together with various actors regionally. We have some challenges in our region, especially related to living conditions, which we have to continue to work together to solve. At the same time, there are some opportunities here in Agder that we must use to create a competitive advantage for the region.

What qualities/competence do you have that make your colleagues vote for you?

 - Through previous board positions and work with the university's strategy, in the steering group, I have gained both experience with and a greater interest in strategic work at an overall level. I find this incredibly exciting, and I want to take these experiences with me into the work of the board. I have received feedback from colleagues that I am diplomatic, proactive and solution-oriented. I think these are qualities that can be useful in board work.
