UiA’s strategy states that we will increase our contribution of research-based knowledge and artistic forms of expression in society and contribute to an evidence-based public debate. Our six interdisciplinary priority areas provide the direction for how UiA will contribute with knowledge to solve great societal challenges.
Some of our researchers already spend much time on general research dissemination, and a few are recognised disseminators who frequently appear in the regional and national news media. UiA also organises several activities and events to contribute with research-based knowledge to society.
However, dissemination is a task that is undervalued at UiA today, compared to teaching, academic writing, publication of research and artistic development work. A culture that does not recognise dissemination as an integral part of research efforts may prevent other UiA employees from becoming recognised disseminators. There is also potential for strengthening and improving the coordination of our research dissemination activities.
Goal
UiA will increase its dissemination of knowledge to the public, promote enthusiasm for research and artistic development work and build confidence in scientific methods and results.
UiA will build a culture where general research dissemination is a recognised part of the work tasks of academic staff and inspire its researchers to increased participation in the public debate.
UiA will increase the number of researchers who are recognised disseminators in the news media, especially within our interdisciplinary priority areas.
Main measures
Internal research funds will be allocated in a way that contributes to increased general research dissemination Responsibility: Faculties/Teacher Education Unit
In their strategy plans, the faculties and the Teacher Education Unit will set their own goals and measures for strengthening the motivation and culture for general research dissemination among researchers Responsibility: Faculties/Teacher Education Unit
Present UiA’s research and artistic development work on UiA.no based on societal challenges and the interdisciplinary priority areas Responsibility: Division of Communication
