The PhD specialization in Education enables the study of issues related to general education, special education, as well as the professionalisation of education as preschool teacher education, teacher education and vocational teacher education. Knowledge, competence, socialisation, ’Bildung’, teaching, learning, conditions for professional development, institutional organisation, and education policy, are relevant focuses in educational research. The course work consists of a compulsory part (20 ECTS) containing scientific and educational theory, ethics, research methodologies, and dissemination, and a self-selected part (10 ECTS) in subject theory or research methodology relevant for the candidates’ thesis. It is expected that the PhD candidates contribute to the department's research groups.
