Cathrine Edelhard Tømtes forskningsinteresser omfatter muligheter og utfordringer for teknologi i samfunnet. Tømte  er ansvarlig for utvikling og gjennomføring emner knyttet til profesjonsfaglig digital kompetanse for lærerstudenter, lærere og skoleledere. Tømte har publisert omfattende nasjonalt og internasjonalt, har doktorgrad fra NTNU og er medlem av CeDiT og STALU.  Hun harbkagrunn fra Senter for IKT i utdanningen og OECD samt NIFU
