Malin Folgerø Stensland

Participated at the European Integration Summer School (EISS) of the University of Agder in 2009.

An excellent composition of lecturers

Why this programme: Investing a summer for studying is a big decision, so before applying I checked the programme thoroughly. I knew that Jan Erik Grindheim, the programme coordinator, is a good lecturer from his lectures at the University of Bergen. The fact that the course lasts for 7 weeks gives a great opportunity for a broad and consistent understanding of the topics.

About the programme: It is an advantage to get first-hand knowledge from an excellent composition of lecturers from different countries and backgrounds. The class consists of students from ten different nationalities, resulting in fruitful and interesting discussions as well as friendships.

About UiA: It is small and intimate. It is amazing to spend a summer in the capital of southern Norway, a great city during summertime. Excursions to the beach, barbecues and social gatherings are just some of the activities we have been doing.

Job opportunities: For the next semester I will do an internship with StatoilHydro to get some job experience, and after that I might apply for internships in Brussels or study German. From 2010 I plan to continue on a master's degree programme, where I might be able to include the credits from the European Integration Summer School.

Advice to future EISS students: Don't miss the opportunity! It is an exciting learning environment with a unique dynamic between the students and the lecturers.
