How to get to Grimstad

Grimstad is situated on the Southern tip of Norway, facing the Skagerrak and Denmark. The town can be reached by air, car, boat, train and/or bus. Coming from abroad, the easiest way to get here is by taking a flight to Kjevik International Airport, Kristiansand.

 

By air

Kjevik International Airport, Kristiansand
Kjevik is the nearest airport to the Grimstad campus. There are several flights daily from Copenhagen (Kastrup) and Amsterdam (Schiphol) with further world-wide connections; also regular flights from Oslo, Bergen and Stavanger for international and domestic connections.
Arriving at Kristiansand Airport, you can take the airport shuttle (destination Arendal) to Grimstad. Please note that you have to change bus at Dyreparken.

Torp Airport, SandefjordIf you arrive at Torp Airport, Sandefjord, you will have to take a taxi from Torp to Fokserød, where you can catch the bus to Grimstad (destination Kristiansand).

If you arrive Grimstad by bus, the easiest thing will be to take a taxi to Dømmesmoen. The taxies are located right beside the bus station.

 

 

By boat

Kristiansand harbour offers car ferry connections to Hirtshals/Denmark, Gothenburg/Sweden and Newcastle/England.

By car

From Kristiansand, follow the E-18 towards Oslo for about 54 km and take the first turn-off to Grimstad.

When you are going to Dømmesmoen take the second turnoff to Grimstad. Turn right and follow Opplandsveien to the first x-crossroads and turn right to Fjæreveien. After a few hundred meters you arrive Dømmesmoen. Please use the parking lot on the right hand side, and go to the old yellow building.

 

From Oslo, it is about 250 km to drive. Take the third turnoff to Grimstad to get to Agder University College.

When you are going to Dømmesmoen take the second turnoff to Grimstad. Turn left and follow Opplandsveien to the first x-crossroads and turn right to Fjæreveien. After a few hundred meters you arrive Dømmesmoen. Please use the parking lot on the right hand side, and go to the old yellow building.

By train and bus

Regular train services to Arendal (via Nelaug) and Kristiansand from Oslo and Stavanger. For railway schedules, please click here.

Buses going to Grimstad leave every half hour from Arendal (destination Kristiansand) and Kristiansand (destination Arendal); and there are long distance coaches going from Oslo and Stavanger to Grimstad. See also: Norway Bussekspress and Konkurrenten.

If you arrive at Kristiansand by train or ferry, you'll find the bus terminal with buses going to Grimstad just outside the railway station, next to the harbour.

The bus ride from Kristiansand to Grimstad takes about one hour.

If you arrive Grimstad by bus, the easiest thing will be to take a taxi to Dømmesmoen. The taxies are located right beside the bus station.
