Nggela
Nggela is a small village located in the Lio area of Ende district. 99% of the people belong to the Catholic Church, only 1% Muslims. Most people in this village subsist by weaving and farming. There are few tourists here, and people are mostly self-contained.

The old Nggela village consists of 15 traditional houses. Each year they make a new calendar. The board of directors make a 7-year plan in the economy in order to maintain a balance and to keep order of the economic distribution.

The average level of income is quite low. There is a small hospital, puskasmas, run by the government. If this clinic can’t help the patient, they have to go to the district hospital in Ende town. Within the last five years there have been improvements, for instance they now have a new road and the water supplies are much better.
