Dr Jakub Isański visiting professor from Poznan
October 3 and 4, 2011 Dr Jakub Isański from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, will give lectures at UiA. The lectures will provide both bachelor and master students with various sociologial perspectives: Sociology of Tourism, International Migration, and Social Capital.
Dr Jakub Isański is participating in the Erasmus Mundus Lifelong Learning Programme – Teaching Staff Mobility.

Bachelor's Programme in Tourism Management and Experience Economy

Sociological point of view on tourism as human flow. The main point will be: the impact of tourism development from economical and social point of view - its positive and adverse effects in particular parts of the world; the growth of new kinds of tourism - adventure, alternative and educational travels.
International Migration
Course: SV-205 Multicultural Understanding in a Welfare Perspective
Bachelor's Programme in Social Work , Bachelor's Programme in Sociology of Work and Welfare

Contemporary theories on migration issues, observed and investigated from the sociological point of view. The main points of interests will be the following: socio-economic theories of migration, migrants -diasporas, communities and minorities of newcomers, and the impact of migration on globalization and development. The lecture will be illustrated with data of the field research of Polish migration after 2004 (EU accession).

Master's Programme in Welfare Studies

The presentation of social, human and cultural capital theories and its applications to society in terms of upward social mobility factors. All the mentioned theories will be used to investigate as a part of microlevel, individual rational strategies to improve one’s social position, as well as parts of macro-scale processes of social changes linked with global social networks, push-pull factors, chain migration and migrants’ adaptation in receiving areas.
