There will be a welcoming coctail on the 30 August at around 20.00 o'clock. You should arrive this day in order to be ready 09.00 o'clock sharp on the 31 of August when we'll start the workshop. The program will continue until 17 o'clock the 1 September, so make sure to book tickets allowing you to be with us during the whole event. There will also be a dinner at the 1st of September in the evening, so best would be if you book your tickets arriving 30 August evening and return 2 September morning.
Kristiansand is Norway’s fifth biggest city and is located at the Southern tip of Norway. The coastline of the South of Norway (or Sørlandet) consists of a number of idyllic islands. In June the temperature is usually around 20 Celsius and the weather is mostly sunny. Kristiansand is a favourite summer recreational area to most Norwegians as well as an increasing number of foreign visitors.
KLM, SAS and Norwegian operate several daily flights directly to Kristiansand from Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Oslo. There is also ferry connections from Denmark, and train from Oslo and Stavanger.
The University of Agder (UiA) is the fifth largest higher education institution in Norway with more than 8.000 students and more than 840 teaching and administrative staff. The campus in Kristiansand was built in 2001 and offers excellent facilities as a conference venue. To increase research efforts in microfinance, the university has received sponsorship from Sparebank 1 SR-Bank – one of the largest savings bank in Norway.
The European Microfinance Platform (e-MFP) was set up in order to strengthen the dialogue among European microfinance actors including universities and academics involved in microfinance research.
More than 15 European universities and research institutions are currently members of the e-MFP research working group. New members are welcome to join.
