Before they were allowed to enter a traditional village in Nggela, our group had to wash their feet in a spesific way. It reminded us of the way it was done when Jesus lived, according to the bible. Tradition, culture and religion in a delightful mixture!
Although it was a very traditional village and the houses did not look like it had been affected of the rest of the globalized world, they had this huge satelite outside! The word culture clash has seldom been more to the point!
Stein joined the group the first night, and he blended in and found his place in Nggela. In this picture he really lives up to his title ”Mr. Professor Doctor Stein”, as he was addressed with all over Indonesia. Traditional costume, chief hat, arak in one hand and a cigarette in the other hand suits you Professor!:)
