Tribute to the children
In Norway childen are given fluoride to protect their teeth, and vitamins or fish oil to grow. In Indonesia they use liquid chlorophyll – said to help the children grow strong and healthy. We saw a little girl opening a bottle of green liquid, and drink it with eagerness. A Norwegian professor said that chlorophyll is most dissolvable in fluids like alcohol, but let us hope that they had not used that in the little girl`s bottle...
Indonesia is a humid and very hot country. There is 30-35 degrees celcius outside, still the children are wearing a wool cap that we would only wear in the middle of the winter in Norway. Is it a way to shut the heat out or simply fashion?

On our stay at the scooner Felicia, we sailed to an island right off the coast from Labuhanbajo. Some of us visited a village with hundreds of children as our guides. They were not used to white people and went completely bananas on us.
There was only one girl who did not lose her mind about us entering the village, and she was however very calm.
If you are a 13 year old mother, and have a child who is four, you became a mother at the age of nine. Strange? Yes, maybe, but that is just the way it is in the rural districts of Indonesia, we were told...
