The essential dictionary
We heard a lot of Indonesian versions of familiar English words during
our stay in Indonesia. This of course led to some strange conversations and misunderstandings, but also a lot of funny incidents. It was not always the Indonesians who made the situations happen, we were also quite good ourselves!

Breakfast First night in Jakarta, we thought they were talking about transport in the morning, but they were actually talking about food in the morning...

|
Horse cart We took a horse cart in Lombok, and again when we came to Gili Air. Solveig could not understand how the horse (Oscar) could be in two different islands at the same time...Maybe horses swim faster than our boats?;)

Happy Morten asked a teacher on a pesantren if the kids were happy with living in the school, and yes, they were haffy, haffy!

Food Hendra was talking about lunch, but we could not picture ourselves eating a foot...

|
Arabics Tiri though that the man she was talking to was an aerobics instructor, but he was actually teaching Arabics:)

|
After The f-sound in Indonesian is not very prevailing, so the pronounciation on English words with f can cause a bit trouble..

Fifty-five Still struggeling with that f-sound...

Coffee This one also counts for the f-sound, but to their excuse; coffee in Bahasa Indonesian is Kopi
