Hindu and Buddhist temples
The syncretism in Lombok is easy to see, an example is the ceremony Perang Topat, which is celebrated once a year of both Hindus and Muslims. The normal sacrifice here is the traditional palm leafs with rice and flowers.
When a Hindu dies, the family also sacrifices palm leafs with rice and flowers. The dead will be bathed in holy water, and the leader, Ngabeng, will bring the dead person’s mantra, and dress him/her in white clothes. The family will pray for the dead, and the body will then be cremated.
The first thing you might notice as a European in a Hindu or Buddhist temple is the Swastika symbol, similar to the Nazi sign. The symbol has been used in Asian religions for thousands of years. It actually has a completely different meaning than the Nazi symbol, representing the sun, love and mercy, and strength and intelligence.
