Education
The term education covers a range of experiences, from formal learning to the building of understanding and knowledge. It is a widely held belief that education is life-long. Individuals receive education from variety of sources. Among others are family members, books, and mass media.
Studying development issues, we know the importance of education, and the value of human resources. The level of education in this Javanese village is unfortunately quite low. The village itself has altogether three schools, but the sub-village only has one Islamic kindergarten.
Almost everyone finish primary school and ten present finish high school. The closest high school for the children of this sub-village is about 9 kilometres away. School fees, residence, and materials cost a lot of money. Also children’s labour is valuable in itself and also may release the parents from work. Therefore, it is not easy for the parents to send their children away.
