Protestantism
About 5% of the population in Indonesia are Protestants. Protestantism arrived to Indonesia during the first colonization in the sixteenth century. The religion expanded in the 20th century because of the European missionaries. Protestants form a minority in some parts of the country. In Sulawesi, 17% of the population are Protestants, most of them are found in the areas of Tana Toraja and Central Sulawesi, where up to 65% of the Torajan population are Protestants. Indonesia has two protestant dominated provinces which are Papua with 60% and North Sulawesi with 64% of the total population being Protestants.
