Lombok day-by-day
January 15th
Bus/ferry group
Our route for the day was by bus from Mangsit, Lombok, via Mataram to Labuhan Lombok, and then by boat to Poto Tano.Then a 15 hours’ hot and long drive to Bima, with only a few stops for eating, peeing and smoking. Solveig and Marita were in charge of food supplies = candy, but instead of wine gums and chocolate we got washing powder and cereal!
One interesting sight was the ‘corruption road’: there was suddenly no asphalt for a few kilometres and then it went back to normal standard. Another highlight was when Maren ordered a grilled chicken and got a whole chicken with a flipperty-flopperty head. After inventing new creative sleeping positions, it was a great feeling to arrive in Sape where we spent the night in a quite rundown hotel.
Flight group
We were only seven people left because the others had left by bus this morning.
We spent the day on the beach and at the Mataram shopping mall. At the beach we saw something in the sea that tried to play with us. It appeared only a couple of meters from us. It turned out to be a sea turtle. In the evening, we had a nice dinner at Holyday Inn and continued in the bar after dinner.
