January 26th
We are still in Maumere.Today we went to St. Paul Major Seminary to hear about the church’s role in development over the years. We also had lunch here, twice.
Later we went to the beach, and we stayed there for the rest of the day. Arne hooked up with Mr. Stein’s driver and his friend, and they spent the next couple of hours cruising in the Kijang, listening to music and drinking beer while searching the town for a decent pair of shorts for Arne.
After a couple of bottles and a few shops he had to settle for the fakest shorts ever made. Not Adidas but Odida, same same but different. One of the funniest car rides Arne has ever been on, even though the driver could not speak any English.
At night we went out with some local friends. First they took us to a brothel and later to some kind of after party with a firm. It was a strange night, but we had fun.
