Flores day-by-day
January 16th
Bus/ferry group:
We left the harbour at Sape early in the
morning after having tea and coconut sugar bun for breakfast. After eight really long hours on a karaoke ferry, we finally arrived in Labuhan Bajo, Flores. Overheated, ready to murder all tone-deaf Indonesian singers, tired and sunburned, we were quite sceptical to about three more days at sea.
Flight group:
We had to get up early to catch the plane to Bali and later Labuhan Bajo. At the airport they did not only weigh the luggage but the passengers had to be weighed as well.
We went to Flores by a very small and old propeller plane. The flight went well except from a little rough landing where we thought the plane was going to tilt. At the airport in Labuan Bajo, Flores, we were picked up and taken to a nice traditional sail schooner that was waiting for us with Stein on board. While we were waiting for the bus/ferry group who took the long route to come, we went snorkelling. It was a wonderful experience with a lot of beautiful things to see.
