Sørlandets kompetansefond har som formål å bidra til kompetanseheving i Vest-Agder til sikring og etablering av arbeidsplasser og gode levekår. Blant bevilgningene i 2010 har PhD Information Systems, Senter for innovasjon og Praxis-Sør fått støtte.

Professor Tero Päivärinta from the Department of Information Systems is on a PhD dissertation committee at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. The dissertation will take place on 12 March 2010.

The candidate is Johan Magnusson, and the title of the dissertation is: Unpackaging IT Governance: A study of Chief Information Officers in Large, Swedish Organizations.

Førsteamanuensis Gro Kvåle ved Institutt for statsvitenskap og ledelsesfag er medlem av ekspertgruppe som skal se på forholdet mellom NAV-kontor og forvaltningsenheter. Gruppen ledes av professor Terje P. Hagen.

Arbeidsminister Hanne Bjurstrøm varslet at hun ville sette ned en slik gruppe under Kontroll- og konstitusjonskomiteens NAV-høring i Stortinget 15.januar 2010.

Innen 30. april skal gruppen legge fram en beskrivelse av dagens arbeidsdeling og samhandling mellom NAV-kontor og forvaltningsenheter, i tillegg til å beskrive erfaringene så langt. Sluttrapporten med vurderinger og anbefalinger foreligger innen 30. juni.

Rotem Shneor, one of UiA's international management doctoral candidates, and Natalia Mæhle a recent PhD graduate from NHH in Bergen, have published an article in the Journal of Product and Brand Management (JPBM). The article is titled: On congruence between brand and human personalities.

The article tries to uncover relationships between human and brand personalities by identifying brand preferences of consumers with different personality types. Data was collected among Norwegian students at UiA, and the analysis was made based on evaluations of brands from the retailing sectors of fashion, furniture and supermarkets.

During 8-13 February 2010 Harald Eik, Head of Human Resources at Xstrata Nickel in Kristiansand, Professor Arne Olav Øyhus and Academic Adviser Jannik Timenes from the Centre for Development Studies at UiA visited the Falcondo Foundation in the Dominican Republic.

Xstrata Nickel, UiA and the Falcondo Foundation entered into a three-year agreement in 2007. As part of the agreement students with a bachelor's degree in development studies could apply for a four month internship for the Falcondo Foundation.

The recent visit to the Dominican Republic and the Falcondo Foundation took place as part of summing up and evaluating the agreement after the three-year period and planning for a new three-year agreement from 2010 – 2013.

Førsteamanuensis Jan Erik Grindheim er en av bidragsyterne på kurset i internasjonal politikk som Den norske Atlanterhavskomité arrangerer på UiA 3. mars. Grindheim skal holde et foredrag om ”Europeisk utenrikspolitikk i lys av Lisboa-traktaten”.

Deltakerne vil komme fra videregående skoler, høyskole/universitet, organisasjoner, det politiske miljø, embetsverk, media og Forsvaret. Sjekk programmet her.
