English Language Requirement
Please note that applicants must meet the requirements in English, set by the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and the University board at the University of Agder.
Non-native English speakers must document their English proficiency by taking one of the following tests/examinations
- British Council's International English Language Testing Service (IELTS), min. score 6,0.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), minimum score 550 for a paper-based test, a score of at least 213 for a computer-based test, or minimum 80 for an Internet-based test. TOEFL institution code for UiA is 5433
The test-result should be no more than two years old and should be sent to us directly from the test center.

Please note that applicants from certain Asian countries (for example Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, China etc) with a BA degree and/or a MA degree where the language of instruction has been English are not exempted from the English language requirements.
Documentation
All the documentation you hand in needs to be certified copies. An official stamp with a signature is required. Copies of attested copies will not be accepted.
Please note that we require that the transcript should be sent to us directly from your home institution, if you have your bachelor degree from one of the following countries:
Nigeria
- Cameroon
Ethiopia
- Ghana
Sudan
All original documents, final degrees and mark sheets/transcripts, which are not issued in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English must be translated into one of these languages by a state authorized translator. If you reside in Norway, you can find a translator here

Overview of non-visa countries
Applicants outside EEA must submit proof of adequate financial means with the application. For 2012 the amount you need to document is NOK 90 800 for one academic year.
Acceptable Financial documents:
Original bank statement in your name (stamped, signed and dated by a bank official)
Original bank statement in your sponsor’s name (stamped, signed and dated by a bank official) + an original letter of support from the person named on the bank statement
