Research strategy
The university's research strategy is a part of the University of Agder's strategic plan for 2010-2015, which was approved by the University Board on 14 October 2009. UiA will promote and nurture prioritized research areas and further research that is in the forefront in Norway.

By 2015:
- UiA will double the production of publication points as compared to 2008.
- At least 70 percent of the academic staff will meet the qualification criteria for appointment to a position of associate professor/professor.
- At least one research group at UiA will have received the status as a Centre of Excellence in Research.
- UiA will be one of the country’s leading research institutions in selected professional fields.
The University of Agder will also be a model university for active regional partnerships and will have a strong international foundation. UiA will take part in international research projects in cooperation with other regional partners.
