SCIENTIFIC PUBLISHING
The University of Agder gets funding from the Government partly based on the amount of publications in approved publication channels.To get approval the publication channels have to fullfill the definitions of a scientific publications that are used by the UHR (The Norwegian Association of Higher Education Institutions). The main criterias are that the paper must be in a journal/book with a peer review system and be of scientific quality.
Approved Publication Categories:
- Article in international peer reviewed journal (A11)
- Article in national peer reviewed journal (A15)
- Article in scientific series (A25)
- Article in scientific anthology (A22)
- Scientific monographs (B11)

The Norwegian documentation system for research funding was approved by the Ministry of Education and Research in 2005 upon the recommendation of the Norwegian Association of Higher Education Institutions (UHR). First used in connection with budget allocations in 2006, the system is designed to facilitate a performance-based distribution of research funding to the institutions based on their academic publishing activity.
