Brief guide to the department:
Most of the study programmes offered by the Department of Education are taught in Kristiansand. Some courses are given in Grimstad. The department comprises about 45 academic and administrative staff, with about 1,500 students in attendance.
Teaching and work methods vary, but most of the programmes involve lectures, seminars and different kinds of group work with tutorials, for example projects or problem-based case studies. The use of ICT is included as an element in most of the programmes. A considerable amount of student activity will be expected. Most of the programmes involve teaching practice in schools. Only a few courses are open to external candidates due to compulsory assignments and teaching practice periods.
