Department of Engineering

Department of Engineering Sciences is responsible for all the traditional engineering areas at the University, in addition to an MSc-programme in industrial management. Engineering sciences is rapidly growing, both in terms of student influx, programmes offered and research effort.

Three research groups are responsible for all the activities at the department. All groups are in close contact with public and industrial partners, who offer exciting projects for students and cutting-edge research for the scientific staff. The groups are:

Civil engineering: handles areas within structural engineering, design & technical planning. Department of Engineering Sciences and Civil engineering has a joint effort including the Faculty of Economics and Social sciences and Industrial economy and management, where the focus is on leadership and management of production activities.

Renewable energy and electrical power: handles areas concerning energy production and distribution, as well as electronics. The group offers separate BSc and MSc-programmes, and contributes to several other areas, such as mechatronics and computer sciences.

Mechatronics : is presently the most expansive group at this department. See here for more information: more.. and Aerospace: offers the only aerospace program in Norway. The group cooperates closely with the aerospace and the shipping industry.
