Studieplanramme

After graduation, the student should

  • have acquired a foundation of leadership and innovation when it comes to planning, managing and evaluating development and change processes in organisations, businesses and regional and national institutions with responsibility for innovation policy and regional development
  • be able to work across disciplines and sectors
  • demonstrate the ability for self-reflection, critical assessment, learning and personal mastery
  • be able to reflect on how knowledge can be practically applicable, and have value for both students and employers.

The programme provides for a variety of teaching and working methods, as well as support and supervising of the individual student. It is given different feedback along the way, including in the form of guidance, several assignments and delivery of term papers. There will be lectures and various forms of student-active methods will be used such as group work of various kinds, seminars and advisory groups.

Teaching will mainly be in Norwegian, but some will also be taught in English. Upon request, supervising of the master thesis could be offered in English.

Assessment methods in the study are stated in the course descriptions. Assessment methods are varied and closely related to the work method in each subject. Both examinations and take-home exam (such as portfolio assessment, essays, article and writing applications) are used. It is mainly made up of individual assessments, but group exams are also used. Graded marks are used.

The thesis is written individually, but can be implemented in co-operation with other students as sub-projects within the same main project. The thesis is evaluated by internal and external examiners. The thesis is presented and discussed with the candidate in an oral final exam (with duration of approx. one hour). It is used as a grade for the thesis-evaluation. The grade can be adjusted after the oral hearing.

All courses in the first year, and the subject methods and assignments, must be passed before students can receive guidance on the thesis. In order to evaluate the thesis , the 90 credits (all previous topics) must have been passed.

The programme will train graduates who can work in the growing field of regional and national funding agencies, whose task is to promote innovation in society, and develop co-operation between public and private actors in knowledge and innovation. The candidates will also have the relevant knowledge to work on innovation and learning processes in large organisations.

The programme leads to a Master's degree in innovation and knowledge development.
