IDR119-2 Group Fitness Instructor
Health and Fitness Training, One-semester Programme

IDR117-2 Fitness Coach. The student should be in good physical conditon and be able to actively participate in the practical lessons.
After having completed the course, students will:
- have basic knowledge of the structure of the human body and how it responds to training
- have basic professional training skills, which give grounds for planning efficient and adequate group fitness classes for various target groups
- have practical applicable knowledge about adequate techniques related to aerobics/step and spinning
- be able to give demonstrations and to instruct various groups in an efficient, safe and inspiring way
- be able to use music as an aid for creating motivation, inspiration and joy of training
- know the most common injuries and pain one may have to deal with during group fitness training
- know recommendations with regard to nutrition
- be able to be creative and innovative in forming the group training classes
- be good role models

Teaching will be in the form of lectures, group work, demonstration, work in the gymnasium, observation with complementary work and individual studies.
The course comprises both theory and practical training. Throughout the course the theoretical part is related to practical instructional exercises Students are expected to acquire parts of the course contents by individual studies. The practical lessons are compulsory and 100 % attendance is required.
- Approved attendance
- Approved log from instructional training according to guidelines
- Approved practical and also written case assignments
The examination consists of to parts and each part counts 50 % of the final grade:
- A graded 30-minute individual practical exam
- A graded 2-hour written individual school-exam
Both parts must be passed. One graded mark is given.
