Recommended educational background for bachelor´s degree students: KR-103-1 Introduction to Religion and Ethics

relation to both the one-year programme in Religion and Ethics,
and in relation to RLE 1 and 2.
Instruction is
carried out in its entirety in two or more countries in Asia.
Possible countries are: Malaysia, Thailand,Sri Lanka,
Indonesia, Laos and Cambodia. Students are affiliated with
local universities. Local lecturers and religious leaders will
contribute to the instruction. The use of several educational
institutions ensures a representative religious, ethnic and
social diversity.
The programme contains two courses,
one (10 ects credits) on level 100 and one (20 ects credits) on
level 200. The courses are given sequentially. The examination
in REL104-1 comes
first.
Arrangements for the recognition of prior learning are described in the information on the institution under "General arrangements for the recognition of prior learning (formal, informal and non-formal)".
For a description of the examination regulations, see the Examination Regulations of the University of Agder.
For information about the Norwegian grading system, see ECTS credits and grades. Specific information on grading for each course is found in the individual course descriptions.
The Examination Regulations of the University of Agder regulate the graduation requirements for each programme of study.
Through fieldwork and instruction students will acquire sound knowledge of the four great world religions: Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and Christianity. (See course descriptions for more detailed learning outcomes.)
All courses have elements of lectures, seminars, fieldwork and excursions.
Each course is assessed on the basis of a written examination that takes place in Asia and a fieldwork report to be handed in by June 1st.
The programme qualifies for various types of work in the
cultural sector and in combination with the Postgraduate
Certificate in Education, it qualifies for teaching in upper
secondary school.
The programme qualifies for further
studies in Christianity, religion, ethics and theology. The
courses may form the advanced specialization in the Bachelor´s
Programme in Religion, Ethics and Culture, and in an
unspecified bachelor´s degree.
In combination with
KRL1 and KRL2 it qualifies for admission to the Master´s
Programme in Religion.
For further information regarding the programme please contact programme coordinator Levi Eidhamar or head of department Årstein Justnes.
