RLE1 and at least 15 ECTS credits from RLE2, or the equivalent.

The programme offers in-depth studies of theological, philosophical, didactical and sociological issues at a more advanced level than the RLE 1 and RLE 2 programmes.

The Examination Regulations of the University of Agder regulate the graduation requirements for each programme of study.

Studieplanramme

Students will
- acquire a broad insight into problems relating to the sociology of religion
- acquire a deep knowledge of the history of ancient church, culture and theology
- acquire a deep knowledge of how religious faith and philosophy of life is expressed aesthetically and artistically in the major world religions
- be able to discuss didactic problems related to given topics

Teaching is mainly in the form of lectures, plenum discussions and tutorials. The forms of learning and assessment used are further described in the course descriptions.

Written examination, oral presentation, article writing and home examination.

The programme qualifies to teach in upper secondary school, and qualifies for admission to further studies in Christianity, religion and ethics, and theology. The combination RLE1 + RLE2 + RLE3 qualifies for admission to master´s programmes in religion and religious studies. Students who take RLE2 and RLE3 in the 3rd year of the Teacher Education, may start on the master´s programme in religious studies and thus obtain a master´s degree after five years of study.
