ECTS 2010-11
Norwegian 3, Advanced Programme
30 ECTS credits - 1 Semesters semester - Kristiansand
NOR3-30
NOR3-30
30
Approved Norwegian 1 and a minimum of 15 study points in Norwegian 2.
Norwegian 3 provides students with a specialisation
in Nordic Language and Literature and increases the knowledge
the general teacher education student has received in Norwegian
as an educational subject as well as aesthetic and linguistic
subjects through the obligatory Norwegian subject in the
general teacher education programme and through study of the
topic in Norwegian 2. These courses may either be an extension
of previously completed coursework, or they may assume a more
independent profile. The Nordic perspective will be more
strongly emphasised in Norwegian 3.
Norwegian 3 (30
study points) must be taken as a full-time study programme
during spring semester. The programme is organised into three
10-sp courses with individual examinations required for each
course.
Arrangements for the recognition of prior learning are described in the information on the institution under "General arrangements for the recognition of prior learning (formal, informal and non-formal)".
For a description of the examination regulations, see the Examination Regulations of the University of Agder.
For information about the Norwegian grading system, see ECTS credits and grades. Specific information on grading for each course is found in the individual course descriptions.
The Examination Regulations of the University of Agder regulate the graduation requirements for each programme of study.
After having completed the study programme´s three courses, students will have further developed their academic and didactic knowledge and skill level. They will increase their own ability for reflection on oral and written use of the language in various communicative situations both in school and diverse media formats.
Lectures and seminars.
Students taking
Norwegian 3 as a component of the third year of the general
teacher education programme must complete an obligatory
two-week practice period. The practice will be included as a
component of NO-205. After having completed their practice
period, students are required to write a practice report which
must receive approval before they will be allowed to sit the
final examination in this course. Students taking Norwegian 3
as a component of the fourth year of the general teacher
education programme and other students must write a
didactic/practice-oriented research and development paper at
the same time the other students in NO-205 are completing their
practice period. Course instructors will offer suggestions
regarding topics for research and development work, which is to
be completed either individually or in groups.
Upon assessment in the three courses, emphasis will be placed on subject knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge through problem-solving, the ability to reflect on academic instruction and the presentation format used for this. The three courses comprising Norwegian 3 have different assessment forms (see course descriptions). All the courses are assessed with differentiated grades. On the diploma regarding Norwegian 3, the grade for the three courses has equal value.
If Norwegian 2 and Norwegian 3 are taken during the third year of the general teacher education programme, the student may begin upon the first year of the Master´s degree programme during the fourth academic year and thereafter receive a Master´s degree after a five-year study period. Having either Norwegian 3 or a Master´s degree awards students with a solid academic basis for becoming a Norwegian teacher or for working with Norwegian and linguistic knowledge in other professional contexts.
